An Enhanced DC-Link Voltage Response for Wind-Driven Doubly Fed Induction Generator Using Adaptive Fuzzy Extended State Observer and Sliding Mode Control

This paper presents an enhancement method to improve the performance of DC-link voltage loop regulation in a Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG)- based wind energy converter. An intelligent, combined control approach on metaheuristics-tuned Second-Order Sliding Mode (SOSM) controller and adaptive fuzzy-scheduled Extended State Observer (ESO) is proposed successfully applied. The fuzzy gains-scheduling mechanism performed adaptively tune update bandwidth ESO while disturbances occur. Besides common time-domain indexes, bounded limitations effective parameters designed Super Twisting (STA)-based SOSM controllers are set thanks Lyapunov theory used as nonlinear constraints for formulated hard optimization problem. A advanced metaheuristics, such Thermal Exchange Optimization (TEO), Particle Swarm (PSO), Genetic Algorithm (GA), Harmony Search (HSA), Water Cycle (WCA), Grasshopper (GOA), considered solve constrained Demonstrative simulation results carried out show superiority effectiveness scheme terms grid rejection, closed-loop tracking performance, robustness against chattering phenomenon. Several comparisons our related works, i.e., approaches TEO-tuned PI controller, STA-SOSM controller-based linear observer, presented discussed.
